Romance is in the Air.

Like Valentine's Day, the wedding anniversary gift has its origins in the Roman Empire when husbands would crown their wives with a silver wreath on their 25th anniversary and a gold one on their 50th. Over the years other gifts became associated with specific anniversaries all over Europe. The current list of "traditional" gifts in the USA was established in 1937 by the American National Retail Jeweler Association. OK, so it's a blatant marketing ploy but it does help us come up with ideas for gifts and the 10th anniversary is aluminum or tin. There aren't a lot of romantic things made out of aluminum but my jewelry or sculptures really fit the bill.
