I'll be selling my anodized aluminum jewelry at this show Wednesday, May 6th from 10 am to 5:30 pm. It's a good place to get that last minuet Mother's Day gift and 10% of all the artists sales go to the OHSU Heart Research Center.
Like Valentine's Day, the wedding anniversary gift has its origins in the Roman Empire when husbands would crown their wives with a silver wreath on their 25th anniversary and a gold one on their 50th. Over the years other gifts became associated with specific anniversaries all over Europe. The current list of "traditional" gifts in the USA was established in 1937 by the American National Retail Jeweler Association. OK, so it's a blatant marketing ploy but it does help us come up with ideas for gifts and the 10th anniversary is aluminum or tin. There aren't a lot of romantic things made out of aluminum but my jewelry or sculptures really fit the bill.

Now, I don't live in Washington Co. but for many years I have been selling my jewelry at a real gem of a store in Forest Grove called "A Framers Touch". http://www.aframerstouch.com/ I will be setting up a mini studio in the store and demonstrating the techniques I use from 11am to 5pm this Saturday and Sunday. Pluse I'll have a bunch of extra work on sale and I'll even be able to do some customization while you wait.
For more information check out the Washington Co. Open Studio website.
As an artist, I have studied and experimented with many different mediums. But I found my calling in 1994 when I began to study jewelry and metalsmithing at Humboldt State University in Northern California. After a few years of dedicating myself to jewelry I had a craving to go bigger and make some sculptures. The larger scale presents different design challenges but also releases me from the constraints of what is wearable. It also inspires new jewelry designs which in turn inspire new sculptures. The results are beautiful pieces that are perfect for any small space in your home or office that needs a little something special.
I am excited to be exhibiting 29 of my sculptures as part of a three person show at S.L.O.T. studio Art Gallery, a new gallery in Oregon City. The opening reception is Friday July 12 from 5pm to 8pm and the show runs through August 31.
There will also be a selection of my anodized aluminum and silver jewelry, beautiful hand blown glass by Ana Willow Obermayr and Conar Piermarini and abstract expressionist paintings by V-O-N-D-A
S.L.O.T. studio Art Gallery 900 Main Street, Suite 106, Oregon City, OR 97045

What better way to celebrate a beautiful, yet fleeting moment of Spring than to make it into something you can wear year round. This flower in my front yard was the inspiration for my whole "Dancing Iris" collection.
I really only have one sale a year and it's the weekend after Thanksgiving. Like so many others I will be offering my best deals of the year, but I promise you won't be trampled trying to get into my booth or that I'll mark down my jewelry even more the week before Christmas.
For those of you in the greater Portland area come to my booth at the Portland Saturday Market this Saturday and Sunday to get discounts of 10% to 50% off everything, plus it all comes gift wrapped.
But wait, there's more! I will also be offering 15% off everything in my Etsy Shop Friday Nov. 23rd through Tuesday the 27th, and it all comes gift wrapped too.
Come check out my little sculptures at the annual "Little Things" show at Guardino Gallery. This is a cool show featuring 48 artists working in all kinds of mediums. Each artist will have several pieces and they are all 7 inches or smaller so there is a good chance you will find that perfect gift for the art lover on your list.
The show will be running until Dec. 25 but for the best selection and to chat with me, come to the opening reception this Friday Nov. 23, 6pm-9pm.
